Have a question about building or improving your kit? Before you ask in the forum or the 34th ID Chat, consult the below guides. 99% of any questions along the lines of “what should I bring” or “where should I buy it?” can be answered in one or more of these guides.

G/135th IR, 34th ID Authenticity Guide. This is the basic guide that will tell you what clothing and equipment is required and acceptable at The Gothic Line.

Big Papa Stromboli’s Buying Guide. This is a spreadsheet of recommended vendors for nearly every piece GI of kit that is currently reproduced and also appropriate for use at The Gothic Line. It also includes who is authorized to carry that piece of kit as well as a list of vendors to avoid like the plague. This list is updated periodically as new runs of reproductions come out and reviews filter in. Keep in mind, most vendors’ quality varies from run to run so just because a vendor used to make a good product doesn’t mean the current run is as good and vice versa. The guide is regularly updated to reflect this.

Equipment Guide A guide on how to pack, set up, or otherwise use most of the basic Individual Equipment.

Advanced Impressions Guide. This is a guide to improving the authenticity of your impression with period correct personal items and toiletries as well as de-farbing certain reproduction items.

NCO Guide. This is a guide to the items carried by NCOs and Officers in addition to the basic kit outlined in the Authenticity Guide. If you are portraying an Officer or NCO, this guide is required reading.
